How to Reach Como City from Lake Como Villages
If you are staying in a village on Lake Como and need to reach Como city, you have three practical options: bus, ferry, or cab/private transfer. This guide is useful for any visitor, and especially for guests joining our Milan day tour from Como.
Tour meeting point
The tour starts at 10:00 at Como, Cavour 26, close to the lakefront and Piazza Cavour.
Please aim to arrive in Como by 9:30–9:45. This gives you time to walk from the bus station, train station, ferry pier, or taxi drop-off without stress.
The tour ends at 18:00 in Como, Cavour. For the return journey to your lake village, plan transport from about 18:15 onward, because you may need a few minutes to walk to the bus stop or ferry pier.

The easiest rule
If you are staying on the western shore between Cernobbio, Argegno, Tremezzo, Menaggio, and Colico, look first at ASF bus line C110.
If you are staying on the eastern shore of the Como branch between Blevio, Torno, Nesso, Lezzeno, and Bellagio, look first at ASF bus line C130.

Both of these lines run from Como. They do not cover the Lecco branch of the lake (for example Mandello, Lierna, or Lecco). If you are staying on that branch, check your own connection into Como first.
By bus
Buses are normally the best choice if you need to reach Como before 10:00 and return after the tour ends at 18:00.

Bus prices
ASF extra-urban single tickets are priced by fare band. The current public fare table shows normal single tickets from 1.60 euro to 8.10 euro. The exact fare depends on the village and route.

Where to buy bus tickets
Buy bus tickets before boarding when possible:
- On the Arriva MyPay app for many ASF extra-urban tickets.
- At authorized ASF resellers.
- At ASF ticket offices.
- On board from the driver by card/contactless or cash, with a surcharge on many tickets.
If you are in Como before the return trip, the main bus station is Como Stazione Autolinee in Piazza Matteotti, a short walk from Piazza Cavour.
Bus timing for this tour
For the 10:00 start, choose a bus that reaches Como no later than 9:30–9:45. Official summer schedules show morning C110 and C130 services reaching Como before 10:00 from the main western-shore and eastern-shore villages, but times change by season, weekday, Sunday, and holidays.
For the 18:00 finish, buses are usually the safest public-transport return option. In the official summer C110 and C130 schedules, there are evening departures from Como after 18:00 for many lake villages. Always check the exact day, because reduced summer, Sunday, holiday, and strike schedules can differ.
By ferry
The ferry is the most beautiful way to arrive in Como, especially from villages with a pier. It can also be slower and more sensitive to weather, port traffic, and seasonal schedules.

Return ordinary fares are usually double the one-way fare. Children 4–11 pay reduced fares; children under 4 generally travel free if accompanied and not occupying their own seat.
Where to buy ferry tickets
- Online on the Navigazione Laghi website.
- At ticket offices near the main piers.
- On board only when needed. If the pier ticket office is open and you buy on board, Navigazione Laghi applies a 1.00 euro surcharge per passenger, luggage item, or vehicle. If there is no open ticket office at that pier, the surcharge is not applied.
Ferry timing for this tour
Ferry is excellent for arrival if the timetable works. For a 10:00 tour start, check that your boat reaches Como early enough to walk to Cavour 26 by 9:45.
For the 18:00 finish, do not assume there will be a convenient ferry back to every village. The official summer timetable shows evening boats from Como for some stops, but service becomes limited later in the evening. Check your exact village and date before booking the tour day around ferry travel.
By cab or private transfer
A cab or private transfer is the easiest option if:
- you are staying in a village with limited evening transport;
- you are traveling with luggage;
- you are far from the bus stop or pier;
- you want a door-to-door return after 18:00;
- you are a group and can split the price.

These are practical estimates, not official fixed fares. Traffic, luggage, night hours, waiting time, pickup address, and vehicle size can change the price. Ask your hotel, apartment host, taxi company, or NCC driver for a fixed quote before confirming.
Village-by-village advice
Cernobbio, Tavernola, Blevio, Torno, Moltrasio
These are close to Como. Bus is usually easy and cheap, ferry is scenic, and cab is reasonable if you are short on time.
Argegno, Nesso, Lenno, Tremezzo, Menaggio, Bellagio
Check the bus first for the 10:00 start and the 18:00 return. Ferry is a beautiful option, but it can take longer and the evening schedule is more limited.
Varenna, Bellano, Colico, Domaso, Gravedona
These villages are much farther from Como. Direct ferry can be scenic but long and not always convenient for a 10:00 start. If you are staying this far away, check the timetable the night before and consider a private transfer if public transport does not line up.
