\u7b80\u8981\u5386\u53f2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Moltrasio grew on two things: water and stone. The Vallombrosa ravine behind the village, noted since Roman times, drove mills and workshops, while the grey “Moltrasio stone” was quarried from these hills and shipped up and down the lake for churches, quays and villas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moltrasio lies on the western shore of the Como arm, a few minutes north of Cernobbio and close enough to the city of Como to visit on a half-day. Behind it, Monte Bisbino climbs toward the Swiss border; in front, the lake narrows past the Villa d’Este shoreline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind the village, a stream cuts a deep wooded gorge and drops in a series of cascades \u2014 the Vallombrosa, noted since Roman times and long the source of Moltrasio’s water and power. A short walk up from the centre brings you to the falls and cool air even in high summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. The church of Sant’Agata<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Moltrasio’s Romanesque church of Sant’Agata is the village’s oldest landmark, a simple stone building with a square bell tower that has watched the slope for centuries. Its plain lines show how the local grey stone was used long before the villas arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
